San Diego Walk for Water on March 22nd:
Experience Their Journey
Come join us on World Water Day for the first-ever San Diego Walk for Water, led by Project Concern International. During the event, walkers can choose to carry buckets of water to simulate the journey that women and children make every day in countries around the world to obtain water.
What: A 5k walk to raise awareness of the global water crisis
Where: De Anza Cove in Mission Bay (San Diego)
When: March 22, 2009 at 10:00 a.m.
Entertainment by:
- Armada (from La Jolla Country Day School)
- Pep Band (from Francis Parker School)
- Rhythmic Loving (from The Bishops School)
- Tinku (an Andean folk group)
Registration is open to the public and free to all those who wish to participate. Donations from the event will go towards building a system of wells in Nicaragua.
Following the walk, participants can sign a symbolic declaration that will be sent to President Barack Obama’s Administration in an effort urging them to continue funding programs that provide access to clean water for people living in poverty.
Join us and try a new eco-friendly premium bottled water brand, Nika Water who is taking a unique approach to selling its product by donating 100% of its profits to alleviate global poverty. Also participating in the walk is Hunter Industries, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of irrigation equipment, and the San Diego Water Conservation Program. Both will be providing useful tips for conservation in our own homes and yards.
